Behind the Scenes: Building a Template That Actually Sells

I analyzed my best-selling template and broke down exactly what made it work — from design to copy to launch strategy.

Last year I launched a Notion dashboard template for content planners. It hit $12k in its first month. Here's what I did differently.

First, I spent a week researching my audience's pain points. I joined five Facebook groups and noted every complaint about content organization. Then I designed the template to solve exactly those problems, using their language in the copy.

Second, I created a 30-second demo video showing the template in action. That video converted at 8% vs. 2% for the static image. I also offered a limited-time launch discount of 20% for the first 100 buyers.

The lesson? Sell a solution, not a feature. Talk about the outcome ("never miss a deadline") not the tool ("has 15 databases").
